Zeroko: Spaces is a project I’ve been working on, inspired by how useful the remote server feature in VS Code has been for me. Being able to open a browser and instantly access a coding environment felt like magic—so I started wondering: what if you could do the same, but with a full desktop-like experience, not just a code editor?
That’s how Spaces began. The idea is to create secure, on-demand virtual environments that run directly in your browser-fast, isolated, and ready to use. Instead of relying on heavy virtual machines that stream video, Spaces is built around lightweight containers and a web-native interface.
From a user’s perspective, it feels like launching a mini operating system in the cloud: you can open a terminal, manage files, run apps, and even use devices like USB drives or MIDI controllers. Everything is synced, encrypted, and runs on demand, with minimal setup.
While it’s perfect for individual developers, makers, or self-hosters, Spaces also opens the door to more advanced use cases—like providing disposable dev or testing environments to teams, secure workstations for remote employees, or isolated environments for training and onboarding.
Still in development, but getting closer every day.
